Leadership & Governance
- We developed governance structures and processes to de-risk multi-council collaborations enabled by technology We created and coordinate multi-council digital Advisory Groups that focus on innovation and best practice in:
- Co-design,
- Digital Investment,
- Data and Insights,
- Policy and Process,
- Digital Engagement, and
- Digital Leadership in local government.
Toolkits
- We brought the Cities of Melbourne, Greater Geelong, Ballarat, Whittlesea and Corangamite Shire together to discuss how they might share their knowledge and experience in open data publishing with other Victorian councils. Their collective wisdom was developed into an "Open Council Data Toolkit" (designed by Steve Bennett and Ellen Bicknell) to encourage councils to publish data for trees, waste collection and accessible buildings.
- Within six months, the number of councils publishing open data had doubled. Victoria now boasts more councils publishing open data than any other state in the nation. The (free) resource is being used by local government associations from around the world.

To celebrate and encourage local government using innovative technology solutions to support council business objectives and improve community services, we create and deliver the MAV Technology National Conference and Trade Exhibition, the MAV Technology Awards for Excellence, MAVHACK design thinking events, regional forums and the MAVTV online event program.
